The Roots of Healing Grove

Healing Grove Counseling grew from the belief that we all have the capacity to endure and heal, especially when supported by meaningful relationships—both within and around us. Like trees in a grove sharing one root system, we are stronger when we draw from those sources of connection. The Giant Sequoia, which also thrives in groves, carries a small cone that requires fire to open, releasing seeds that take root in burnt bare soil. I see trauma healing in a similar way: even after pain and loss, new life can emerge—transforming what once felt devastating into the ground for something new to grow.

Meet Brittany

Hi, I’m glad you’re here. My hope is to be a compassionate support on your healing journey. My path began with a deep yearning for belonging from a young age, which led me to seek connection with others to fill that need. Those early experiences—and later, the loss of people dear to me—taught me about both the ache of absence and the beauty of relationship. They also sparked a deep curiosity about attachment and how our connections shape who we are.

In my 20s, I began leading wilderness trips and discovered that nature reflected many of these same truths. Immersed in the natural world, I witnessed resilience and interdependence—insights that continue to guide my work today. My path later led me to family systems work, and then individual therapeutic work, where I saw the healing power of safe, attuned connection.

Over time, I’ve come to believe that while our relationships with others can be deeply healing, meaningful change often begins within—by building a compassionate and trusting relationship with ourselves. As a cisgender, heterosexual white woman, I recognize the privilege I hold and approach my work with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to ongoing learning and advocacy for those with marginalized identities, so that all may feel welcomed and safe.

  • I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts. I bring over a decade of experience working with children, youth, adults, and families across a variety of settings, including hospice care, the foster care system, community mental health, and private practice. I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based treatment for trauma, as well as in foster and adoptive family therapy. I am also Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and have additional training in working with dissociative responses and the Flash Technique—approaches that support a greater sense of safety and stabilization, particularly for those with histories of complex trauma or structural dissociation.

The Office

My work week is Monday through Thursday. My office is located in Portland’s Hollywood District on the third floor (accessible by stairs). My therapy dog, Lena, is often there to offer gentle, furry support.

Telehealth sessions are also available if that’s more accessible or convenient for your schedule.
