FAMILY THERAPY
“Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love.” –Dr. Bruce Parry
Most relationships can use a little fine-tuning from time to time, and families are no exception. I approach my role in family therapy as a collaborative partner, supporting each person with experiencing a sense of being understood and heard. Like a wind chime, when one member shifts or gains a new skill, the entire system may respond. In family therapy we can explore goals for your family, create a process for communicating about difficult feelings or needs, and reduce reactivity and defenses. I incorporate training in collaborative problem solving and non-violent communication, as well as family systems models and attachment theory. I have experience working with biological and blended families, divorce, and foster and adoptive families at each stage in the permanency process.
